This post will count as Part 3 as I have some great updates including the first item on this list:
Vanity Table with Drawers- I got ONE!. It is from Ikea and is everything I need at this time. If I need more space, I can add another piece as an extension and it will add more storage.
Plush Seat- I already got a teal furry chair that I adore. See it here.
Mirrors- I found a mirror from Bed Bath & Beyond with LED lights. It is black and wireless! The LED lights turn on with a touch of the mirror.
Makeup Brushes- So I already have brushes but I want to add the Artis style brushes from BeatsBlushBoutique.com to my collection. They are sleek and for some reason I think the oval shape will work better on my face.
Brush Holders- Homegoods has been good to me. I found a few brush holders and can’t wait to reveal them to you.
Hair Supply Storage- The desk I purchased has enough storage space for me. It holds my flat irons, blow dryers and hair products.
Area Rug- Wayfair has so many options but I quite haven’t found the one for me. The reason I want a rug is to ensure that my makeup does not stain the carpet. So it is necessary. Still on the hunt.
Decorative Trinkets- I have a few like the Hermes boxes and some jewellery trays but I need more. I am looking for Gold and brown pieces to add some personality.
Inspirational Art- I have found so many different pieces of art but none that really reflect the vision I have for the space.
That is it for now but once I purchase more things, I will share my additions.
What do you think?
NEST Fragrances candles are unique because even when they are not lighted the fragrance is beautiful. I keep my NEST candle in my closet at a freshener and when I want to add light, I take it out of the closet and let the beauty of the candle shine. Pun intended.
There are so many other fragrances to choose from the NEST Fragrancescandle collection. Bamboo, Grapefruit, Ocean Mist & Sea Salt, Moroccan Amber and Blue Garden. Though I have not tried the other fragrances, I am confident NEST is consistent with their quality and execution of their vision for the NEST Fragrances brand. If candles are not your thing, there are reed diffusers, liquid soap, body cream and parfum.
For the holidays I will be filling my home with NEST Fragrances
Would you try NEST Fragrances products?
For the past few weeks, the only stores I have visited are furniture stores. In California there are furniture stores, consignment stores and antique stores. It is fun visiting each type of store and seeing what unique pieces they have to offer. Even though I am a classic lover with a prissy side, I have been leaning towards antiques.
Though I have been feeling antique and vintage furniture, it has been great visiting stores with modern, chic and sleek furniture. In Toronto, Structube, EQ3 and Art Shoppe are popular options. So I was looking for similar options in California. I stumbled upon Room & Board and was stunned and surprised by the wide variety in their home collection. In my quest for furniture to add my home, Room & Board was a great inspiration and source of information. The staff were helpful and provided much advice on styling, important furniture pieces and how to make a space "home”.
Kirsten Grove, the author of Simply Styling hosted a book launch event at Room & Board. I had all plans of attending the book signing for Kirsten Grove but I fell ill.
Kirsten Grove is an interior stylist who has with the power of social media and her blog www.simplygrove.com, displayed her awesome talent for home design. Kirsten's hard work is featured in publications and sites such as Inside Out Magazine, Lucky Magazine, Real Living Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, Gray Magazine, Elle Decor.com, HGTV.com, Pottery Barn, Domino.com, Apartment Therapy and Design Sponge.
Though I couldn’t physically be there, I was able to follow Kirsten around via Instastore and find some helpful tips for styling my home. Here are the tips I got from Kirsten on how to decorate your home:
Add Ceramics. I remember my mom used to make ceramics and I wasn’t a fan but things have changes 20 years later. The ceramics Kirsten showed on her Instagram were beautiful and added a homemade touch to the room. * heads to etsy to pick up a vase or two*.
Look at the whole space. Kirsten was re-styling the spaces on Instastories. I was amazed by how she made a few changes and the space looked like a completely different room. I know when I am putting things to gether at home I usualy am focused on e on design piece when really I should be looking at the whole room.
I haven’t purchased the book as yet but from I definitely will be picking it up. Thank you Room & Board for hosting this event ( Even though I got sick) and for helping me get my home in order.
Here we go...Part 2 of my Vanity series.
As I mentioned before my new home has space for a vanity and I am currently designing it with hopes of finishing it by the end of the year. I hope it will be finished in time for Christmas.
I will keep my fingers crossed.
My vanity space will be small but I really want it to be unique and a true reflection of the things I love. Trinkets and inspirational quotes are important to me. When I travel I usually bring a lot of pieces back home from my holidays. I love displaying them and adding them to my living space.
To help me with the process, I drew out a simple sketch of how I want my vanity space to look and what should be featured in it. Here is the sketch of what I have in mind.
I already purchased a furry stool and I love it. I picked it up from a furniture store here in San Francisco and it has become the inspiration for my vanity space and the focal piece.
The trinket boxes on top of the stool will be Hermes and I have been building my stack of Hermes boxes for the past four years.
Next to the stool is a storage cabinet. I initially wanted a table which includes storage but I haven’t been able to find one. But still I need storage for my blowdryers and flat irons.
I would prefer 3-4 drawers to hold all of my hair essentials.
Finding the perfect table has been a hassle. I initially wanted a MALM dressing table from Ikea which comes with a drawer, in brown-black but I can’t find it in the US. It is only sold in Canada. Whomp whomp. I really can't have a white table because my chocolate tone makeup will stain it.
So I am on the hunt but my husband has an idea and I am waiting to hear what his brilliant idea is. Ha!
In the meantime I am still on the hunt for a table with a large drawer.
I prefer to have a mirror that stands on the table rather than a big vanity mirror. It is more intimate and is closer to my face. The mirror should have LED lights. I have found one that I like and ordered it. Let’s see what is looks like when it arrives.
On the table there will be some glass vases for makeup brush storage and hair tool storage. I am unsure if I should get those makeup cubes to store my makeup or should I put them in the drawers? Hmmmmm. I know #firstworldproblems.
To complete my vanity there must be a large inspirational quote picture. I was searching but it is hard to find one and there are always so many to choose from.
If you see one that you think would work for me let me know and I will check it out.
At this point, I need a table with or without storage, inspirational quote, makeup and hair tool storage and a mirror. Help Me!
What do you think? Should I add more items to my wishlist?
Let me know if you find anything I might like.
Who doesn’t want a beauty space? I think with the invention of Pinterest and Instagram, women and men alike want beauty spaces or man caves. A beauty space was at the back of my mind but I knew it wasn't a priority in my first home. However, my husband pretty much let me take over the bathroom and do my hair and makeup thing. Thank you love! But I still wanted one eventually.
I waited for a while for my own beauty space and it is finally here! It is not going to be massive but it will be mine! I am taking you all along for the journey of the design, development and the final process. You will get to see the sketch become reality as well as DIY design details and partnerships with various beauty brands that I love.
Why do I need a beauty space? Well to do my hair and makeup of course but also to have a great background for my new Youtube channel. I am joking. I am not too sure about YouTube, as yet but the former reasons still remain. I really want to wake up to a space that is my own and reflects my personality and creative energy.
Do you feel me ladies?
So let's talk about the details of what I need in my beauty space.
Here are the main requirements:
Vanity Table with Drawers
Hair Supply Storage
Colour scheme: Turquoise, Navy Blue, Orange and Gold. This might change but I want a darker, travelling empress vibe!
Look out for my five ( or more) part vanity series and send your suggestions or any pictures for inspiration on Instagram or to my email.
