The magazines tell it all. Instagram is flooded with pictures. And the fashionistas are buzzing. Shoulders are the thing to show this season. The off the shoulder trend is versatile, fun and flirty. Off the shoulder blouses or dresses show enough to feel full of confidence and fierceness.
Off the shoulder tops can be casual or dressy but either way they are impressive. Depending on your comfort level you can show less or more of your shoulders but either way the trend is elegant and flatters all body types.
TIP: To change the look of an off the shoulder blouse, slip one arm out of the blouse and let it hang. Now you have a one shoulder or “ cold shoulder” top.
One top, two options.
For my trip to Mexico, I decided to make a few off the shoulder pieces to reflect the energy and colour of the country. Purple and green is my favorite colour combo so I made a mini dress for myself. I do not shy away from mini dresses or skirts especially when it is hot out.
TK from Stylesbyknight.com was ok with modeling for me and putting her flare on the trend. Her skin tone was a perfect match with a yellow, orange and gold print
The two pieces I made were colourful, light and fun. I paired my mini dress with handmade leather flats that I bought in Trinidad. To add an eccentric look, I used extra fabric to wrap around my braids. My sunglasses were from the junk store on Queen. See, I mix highs and lows. Ha!
TK’s white shorts were a subdued compliment to the bright yellow print. Her gold hair accessories really brought out the gold embossing in the fabric.
Have you worn the off the shoulder trend this season?
If I made a couple of these, would you be interested in ordering one?
