Banana leaf print is so hot right now. It started with Dolce & Gabbana and how trickled down into high street stores. So now everyone can have a piece of the hottest trend of 2017. You don’t have to wear a banana leaf dress, you can purchase a banana leaf print bag, top or even a pillow for your home.
How do you wear banana leaf print? I would wear it with jeans, white pants or skirt or in a full head to toe look. Either way you can’t go wrong. You will stand out in any crowd and look Irie! I love banana leaf print. It reminds me of back home inTrinidad & Tobago. I just got a bunch of banana leaf pieces for my upcoming trips. Some of the pieces above start at $15 and go right up to $1000. Click the images to shop.

Yes straw bags are back in style. Go to the back of your closet and drag out those bags you hid for years or call your Grandma and ask for her vintage straw bags. I love the earthiness of a straw bag. It adds texture to a look and adds a feminine finish. Throw it on with jeans or wear your straw bag with a floral dress.
Summer 2017 is all about texture and dimension and the woven straw will give your look both. Here are a few of my favs at great prices. Click the photos to shop.

A few weeks ago I took you along with me ( in my instastories) to the Hermes sale in San Francisco. Yes, a Hermes sale! I heard about it on Instagram and definitely didn’t believe it existed. So I decided to head out to see if it was true or not. When I heard rumours of people flying into San Francisco just for the Hermes sale, I thought it would be worth a try. Crazy right! I love Hermes not only for their boxes but their craftsmanship. I have a few pieces from Hermes and was ready to add something new to my collection especially on sale.
So why was there a sale? Well the Hermes store in SF was moving locations and needed to clear their stock before moving. This meant they needed to have a sale. I heard about it for a week but wasn’t too sure it was worth my time. IT WAS! I scoured photos on Instagram and saw the pictures of the pieces that people got and I was impressed. When I actually got inside the sale I was even more impressed… more information to come about what happened inside the sale.
So I hopped in an Uber on the second to last day of the sale thinking everything would be sold out. I was wrong. Well first of all I got to the sale and the line was super duper long. I waited because I really needed to see what was inside. I also thought it was monumental that Hermes, the great was having a sale. While in line they gave each person a large white paper bag. They only allowed a few people in at a time. For each person that left the sale, a person was allowed to go in. While in the line the security guard said that a woman was inside from 9 am and she hadn’t come out yet. It was 1 pm!
What Was at the Hermes Sale
I was getting excited. I mean a woman was inside the sale since 9 am so it had to be good. Everything was 50% off retail! When they let me in, I walked through a little cubby hole walkway and entered into a larger open space. It was packed with Hermes boxes, clothing and shoe racks. One side was men’s and the others was women’s. The room was divided into seven sections. Here they are:
Women’s Shoes and Boots
Men’s clothing and accessories
Talk about variety. I headed over to the shoes immediately and was hunt for a specific pair of shoes. I found them! Yippeee! There were lots of shoes. Sandals, boots and sneakers galore. I then headed over to the scarves section because I really wanted another scarf but they didn’t have the size I needed. I walked over to the jewelry section and there was a case of Hermes clic-clacs! O. M. G! I was in heaven but I didn’t get one. There weren’t any colors that I really liked.
I went over to the women’s clothing just to check it out but it was “no” for me. I tried to get something for my husband but they didn’t have what he wanted. I didn’t see a pair of men’s shoes for $15,000. Madness.
The Rules at the Hermes Sale
The most surprising part of the Hermes sales was the amount of rules. You could not take pictures. You could barely even have your phone out while in the sale. There was a maximum of each piece that you could buy. There were no bags at the sale. No Birkins or Kellys. Sigh. My dreams were shattered but I also knew it was not possible or realistic that a Hermes Kelly would be on sale. There were also no belts at the sale.
Was the sale worth it? Oh yeah. Imagine cliccacs at 50% off. I saw some people going crazy in the sale with bunches of scarfs and boxes of riding boots. I really loved what I got and can’t wait to share it with you.
Would you wait in line for the Herme sale?
If you could get anything on sale from Hermes, what would it be?
Sometimes long skirts give me a granny vibe. Ha! Not judging. But this summer everyone is wearing long skirts. The longer the better. Longer skirts have a certain elegance about them. They make you look taller, slender and give you confidence. When I am covered up I feel like there is some mystery.
My rule when wearing long skirts is to keep the simple and elegant with the complete look. Wear a long skirt with an off the shoulder blouse this season or a long skirt and a graphic tee. No matter how you wear it, this season is all about the long maxi skirt or dress.
Try it and tell me what you think. Here are a few of my picks of long skirts you should be wearing and purchasing this summer.
Do you like long skirts or are you mini skirt kinda gal?
