In the past 30 days I have spent over 60 hours on a plane and I am off again next week. Does this sound like a nightmare or a dream to you? Ha! I used to dread sitting on a plane for hours but once I switched up my attitude, I have been able to really maximize my flight time. If you struggle with travel, think of it as a time for you to focus on your goals. Yes I know it sounds weird but once you change your thinking about travel it becomes simple.
Last month I flew to Singapore 17 hours direct. Even after such a long flight, I hopped off the plane and immediately did 5 things to quickly get me energized. Here are 5 things you should do immediately after a flight.
5 Things You Should Do Immediately After A Flight
Eat fruit- … and eat lots of it. Fruit is limited on a plane due to various restrictions. So when you get off find fruit and enjoy. Fruit will bring you energy, boost your immune system and tastes way better than the food you have been eating on the plane.
Workout- You have been sitting for hours. Your body needs to wake up. Take a quick run on the treadmill, lift light weights and do a few jumping jacks. Get your body moving and the blood flowing.
Disinfect- You have been using your phone, laptop or iPad on the germ plane. Wipe them down using disinfectant wipes so you don’t take the plane germs with you.
Breathe- Take a deep breath. You have been breathing in the same air for hours. Inhale the local air and refresh your lungs. Take a series of deep breaths for 2 minutes and you will feel the difference.
Be Thankful- Flying has become so routine that we don’t remember how much of a phenomenon it actually is. Think about it. You have been thousands of feet up in the air, floating between clouds at low temperatures. Whoa! Call/text your family and let them know you arrived safely. It will make you feel connected to them even though you are miles away.
So there you go. These 5 things give me the energy I need to dive into my work and vacation after a flight.
