I love designer pieces. From shoes to bags to clothes. Shoes and bags are usually an easy find but clothes can be difficult. This is the main reason why I make my own clothing. Even the best designers do not have sizes that fit me well. Despite popular belief, I wear anywhere from a size 12 to size 16 depending on the designer’s size chart. My waist to hip proportions are a mix of a size 14 and 16. So I am a 12-14 on top with a 14-16 bottom. CURVES! My arms do not really fit the traditional size 12, 14, 16. Often designers do not offer my size especially in dresses. Do you see the struggle here?
Now, imagine a fashion world with designer dresses in extended sizes were readily available. That world is the 11 Honoré world.
Last week a spent the evening at the Park Tavern in San Francisco at the launch of the 11 Honoré’s website launch. The room was filled with some of San Francisco’s top bloggers including Sarah Tripp of Sassyredlipstick.com, model Candice Huffine as well as the Founders of 11 Honoré Patrick Herning and Kathyrn Retzer.
They welcomed me with open arms and we spoke about how much of an impact 11 Honoré has made on the industry of luxury fashion. I know the feeling of having to order a “ plus size” designer dress and then wait quite a while to get it made in my size or to be told it can’t be produced in my size. Sigh. But now there is 11 Honoré.
11 Honoré is a website with designer clothing from sizes 10 to 22. They feature brands such as Zac Posen, Prabal Gurung, Michael Kors, Baja East, Christian Sirano and Marchesa to name a few. Here is the best part, the clothing is sold at relatively the same price as designer dresses size 0 to 8. Total score.
I tried on two dresses while I was at the launch and let me tell you, it was a a dream come true. To put on a Zac Posen dress in my size warmed my heart. It was definitely an experience. I tried on this red short Zac Posen dress with a sculpted armhole sleeve and a horsehair hem. The dress is perfect for the holidays, valentines day or a wedding guest look.nIt was a size 14 and fit perfectly highlighting my curves and fitting my arms which is usually a struggle.
The second dress I tried on was by Badgley Mischka. This dress was a stunner ( See images below). It was a gold sequin gown with a high neck, cap sleeve and low cowl draping in the back. Again it was in a size 14, fit perfectly and draped my figure elegantly. Dreamy.
So which one should I get? Are you team Red or team Gold? Or should I get both?
Even if you do not wear dresses, 11 Honoré has pants, rompers, sweaters and skirts a swell. You have to browse the site and tell me what you think. I am so excited to shop for my next designer dress on 11 Honoré and pick out more beautiful designer pieces...in my size. Check out the website and let me know what pieces you love.
